IHME Helsinki is seeking Audience Workers

Audience workers will work closely with Zhanna Kadyrova, Curator and Executive Director Paula Toppila, Communications Planner Saara Moisio, and a communications intern.

The salary is 20 EUR/hour and working hours are from 22 August to 2 October 2025. Job orientation is at 10:00–16:00 on 19 August 2025, and is paid. Working hours will be specified later, but audience workers are asked to reserve the work’s opening hours, 15:00 –19:00 from Tuesday to Sunday, for flexible working. Schedule changes are possible.

Audience workers’ duties include:

• Customer service for IHME Helsinki Commission 2025, talking about the work with the public, and providing guidance in the area around it.
• Technical maintenance of IHME Helsinki Commission 2025 (switching equipment on and off daily)
• Maintaining the cleanliness of the venue
• Collecting feedback from the public using tailor-made methods
• Communicating information about the IHME Helsinki project on social media accounts

You are approachable and quick to absorb information. You are alert, friendly and enjoy working with people and contemporary art. Excellent interpersonal, situational, initiative-taking, and problem-solving skills are essential for successful performance of your duties. It is important that you see yourself in the role of audience worker and are inspired by it.

Diverse language skills in Finnish, Swedish, English and Ukrainian are an asset. Knowledge of at least two of these languages is a minimum requirement. Experience in customer service, public relations, and arts education are also an advantage. The work will benefit from knowledge of customer surveys and the use of social media in marketing communications.

To familiarise yourself with the Commission, an interest in the history and present day of Ukraine, the environmental impact of energy production, and the history of Vanhankaupunginkoski rapids in Helsinki is an advantage. Knowledge of contemporary art and an interest in public art will help candidates familiarise themselves with IHME Helsinki’s activities. It is important that you see yourself in this role, are inspired by it, and want to learn new things.
